8-10 months (may change depending case to case)

4) Spouse Dependent Visitor Visa:

If you want to join your life partner, who is living in Canada on a Permanent Residence status or has a Canadian citizenship or who has a work permit or student visa in Canada, you can apply for the spouse visitor visa which will allow you to live in Canada on a visitor visa status. This is a temporary spouse visa for Canada which enables you to visit Canada for a short period of time unless you apply for a spouse dependent work permit. In that case, you can be allowed to work full time once your work permit application is approved.

In order to qualify for a Canadian visitor visa one needs to abide by the following:

• It is mandatory that the applicant satisfies the officer that they are just visiting Canada and will leave Canada at the end of their stay.
• It is mandatory that they show enough money to maintain themselves and their family members in Canada.
• That they do not have any criminal activity or record.
• That they do not intend to work or study in Canada unless authorized to do so.
• That they are in good health condition and are ready to provide any additional document as requested by the officer.

5) Extension Of a Spouse Dependent Open Work Permit.

If you want to extend spouse work permit for Canada, you can apply for the same and thereby continue working. If you want to extend your stay in Canada, you should apply at least 60 days before your status expires.
